Zombieland was a fun film from 2009. Now, Amazon wants to make it a TV series. Amazon apparently has a Zombieland pilot coming soon to its Amazon Prime service. The Amazon Prime streaming video service is much like Netflix. If you’re not familiar, Amazon Prime is both a deal which gets you free two-day shipping on many Amazon products, plus you gain access to a fairly large catalog of TV shows and movies; which you can stream over your browser or on a set-top box like the Roku. Amazon Prime costs $80 per year. I would spend more than that a year on shipping, so signing up for Prime was pretty easy math for me.
If successful, we may see the Zombieland series given the go ahead. Netflix has had success with its House of Cards series and it seems Amazon is following suit. Should HBO be watching its back? I think so. HBO is encumbered with contracts that it has with cable companies. If you want HBO, you have to subscribe to cable first. I have Amazon Prime mostly for the free shipping, the TV shows and movies pretty much sealed the deal. Amazon and Netflix both have the money and bandwidth to compete effectively with cable companies without all the encumbrance of cable contracts.
