Cnet has the story about how Anti-Spam agency Spamhaus has recently come under a massive DDoS attack which has resulted in extra network traffic around the internet. This is being called the largest DDoS attack in history. DDoS stands for Distributed Denial of Service. In simple terms, this is when thousands of computers flood servers with requests for data; thus slowing them to a crawl or disabling them altogether. In this case, the attackers have targeted DNS servers (the yellow-pages of the internet, so to speak) which apart from affecting Spamhaus, has had some collateral damage. Netflix for one, is reportedly experiencing a slowdown.
