Those of you who follow WeTalkNerdy.tv may have noticed that it’s been pretty quiet recently. In case you missed it, I moved to Northern California back in October. Since then, I’ve only managed to post one video and a handful of blog entries. I’m not really comfortable talking about myself online, but I feel like those of you who’ve stuck with me deserve some kind of explanation.
The truth is, relocation has proven harder than I would have hoped. Searching for work has been a full-time endeavor. I had hoped that finding a job would be easier. These days, it seems like resumes don’t warrant even an automated reply. More often than not, after I send in a resume, nothing happens at all. Add to that the recent demise of my laptop, which I use both as a teleprompter and most recently as a Linux test platform, life has just seemed all uphill.
The good news is that things seem to be turning around somewhat. I’ve recently applied for a job where they were looking for someone to make educational tech videos (pretty much perfect for me). While I have no idea if they are interested in hiring me, it’s encouraging just to know such jobs are out there. I’ve found a replacement for my laptop on eBay and I should have that teleprompter working again soon. And, I’ve managed to write a few blog posts within the past two weeks. At the risk of jinxing myself, things seem to be turning around slowly.
I really do love Northern California and while I very much need to find a steady income, I’m doing okay with the help of family and you friends. I don’t know when I’ll publish another episode of WeTalkNerdy, but I’m hopeful it’ll be soon. Let’s just say, I’m working on it.
