Several media outlets are reporting that Google Inc. has plans in the works to open retail stores in the US soon. First broken by 9to5Google, this story seems to have some validity. Both Apple and Microsoft have had success with their retail locations, why not Google? There’s some speculation that Google feels they need brick and mortar stores in order to sell the public on the upcoming Google Glass. I think this is exactly the case. I am excited to see what Glass can do, but lots of folks outside of Techdom have never even heard of it. For the uninitiated, Google Glass is a set of glasses that provide the wearer with a wireless heads-up display linked to a smart phone and controlled via voice commands.
Like all rumors, only time will tell. Check out the official “Project Glass” page on Google+
