The ‘Liberator’ is not a good gun. Its creator, Cody Wilson - founder of Defense Distributed, named it after the cheap one shot pistols that the allies dropped over Nazi-occupied France during WWII. But this ‘Liberator’ is made from plastic and printed from a 3D printer; all except for the firing pin which was made from a simple nail. There is the small expense of an $8000 3D printer of course. Obviously, this kind of innovation comes with its share of controversy. Sure, you could make printing a gun illegal, but when everyone has a 3D printer, will that even matter? As more and more powerful technology becomes available to more and more people, the power to harm increases proportionally with the power to help, there’s just no getting around it.
